Pamela Ford

Pamela Ford passed away on September 4, 2020, three weeks after testing positive for COVID-19. She was 54. Pamela served Broward County for almost 30 years, most recently as a Community Programs Supervision Specialist, where she oversaw the cases of about 130 people each year. Pamela was a graduate of North Miami Senior High School and earned a bachelor’s degree in business management at Florida Memorial University. Her husband, Derek Harvey, told NBC Miami, “She was just loved by everybody. She was just loved.” 

First hired in January 1993 as a court probation officer, Pamela became a probation specialist for the Sheriff’s Office starting in 2001. Throughout her years with the Sheriff’s Office, she also served as a community control supervision specialist and a community programs supervision specialist. 

Pamela tested positive for COVID-19 just four days before losing her mother to the virus. Her husband said that after her positive test, she tried to protect him from contracting the virus by keeping him from entering their bedroom. Derek recalls that “it just went downhill from there,” as Pamela soon lost her physical strength. She was the fifth person lost to the COVID-19 pandemic in the Broward County Sheriff’s Office. 

The Broward County Sheriff's Office described her as “pleasant, respected, considerate, and dependable,” among other accolades, and her loss is deeply felt by the entire community. According to the Sheriff’s Office, “she was well respected by clients and community partners and well loved by her [work] family.”
