Bennie DeVone Jr.’s life is being celebrated! He arrived in this world on July 5th, 1954. He was born to the late Benjamin Franklin and Eleanor DeVone. Bennie lived to see a much respected age of 65 when he passed away from COVID-19 on June 11th, 2020 at South Woods State Prison in Bridgeton, New Jersey.

Living a life as interesting as his father’s name, Bennie made a living as a large automotive transportation specialist. He spent most of his career driving cross-country on interstate highways, making deliveries for various companies. His last employer was the popular and renowned Welch Trucking Company of Sandis, Tennessee.

Although he lived in Tennessee for much of his adult life, Bennie spent his childhood in the suburbs of southern New Jersey. He was a Glassboro Bulldog, graduating from Glassboro High School in Gloucester County, New Jersey as part of the Class of 1972. He later completed his education at Camden County Vo-Tech, where he studied auto mechanics. People who love and miss "Benjie" remember him best as a family man. His stepchildren Jennifer Foster, Shawna Jarvis, Toni Willis, and Brandon Austin are among the many who survive Bennie and will miss him so much.

Friends of the family send big prayers up for his wife Kay DeVone, saying on his obituary’s tribute wall that they are “praying for comfort and strength.” They send love and deep condolences for those who are grieving the loss of Mr. Bennie DeVone Jr., the man on wheels.
