Portrait of Carmelo Herrera

Memorial by Tammy

There isn’t a day that goes by that I think to myself I know you’re up there taking care of mom but I miss you 💔 I know that your daughters will tell your grandchildren about you. Love you Spanky 🧡

Memorial by Carolina

Me and my family knew him as "Spanky." He was my dad’s best friend and we considered him family. He was funny, caring, loving and protected me and my sister as if we were his kids too. His family was our family; no matter what happened he was always positive and smiling. I hope that whoever he encountered will always remember the good things about him.

Memorial for Carmelo “Spanky” Herrera

(Carmelo Herrera) was a good person that all he wanted was to finish his time and get back to his daughter.

He’s the only name I know that died of covid, we know its more.

We all called him Spanky, He was a good person that was “almost done with his time.” He worked out almost everyday, was very strong and wanted nothing more to go back to Jersey city to get back his life.

From Morning Our Losses:

Carmelo Herrera was born on January 22, 1964, and passed away from COVID-19 on April 16, 2020. He was 56 years old. At the time of his death he resided at Northern State Prison in Newark, New Jersey.

We mourn his untimely death, and we know that his friends miss him dearly.
